Please join us in dedicating the new primary MYPath Trailhead in Spencer, Indiana at 1:00pm on the afternoon of Saturday, April 1, 2017. The ceremony will take place at the trailhead shelter, located on the southeast corner of Main Street and Cooper Street. Parking available in Cooper Commons or at the Owen County Fair Grounds.
The new MYPath Trailhead was made possible by a grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs and the Indiana Office of Tourism Development with matching funds from the Owen County Community Foundation, The Town of Spencer, and the Sweet Owen Visitor’s Bureau. The new trailhead borders the White River and provides an accessible, family friendly place to enjoy or start a hike on the MYPath Riverfront Trail. The trailhead includes a new picnic shelter, sidewalk connection, lighting, and bicycle loops.
The MYPath Trail System is a way to improve the overall health of our community by providing safe, easy access to walking routes around our town. It is also intended to reconnect the residents of Spencer and Owen County to its major resource: the White River. By its completion, the MYPath Trail System will connect McCormick’s Creek State Park to the east, with the Town of Spencer, and the Owen County Family YMCA to the west, which will open up an unlimited amount of opportunity for recreation in the future.
