Nominations for the 2023 Owen County Conservationist Of The Year application
Applications must be submitted via email to sean-huss@iaswcd.org or send by mail to the District Office at 788 Pottersville Road Spencer, IN 47460.
PURPOSE:
The Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District offers the Owen County SWCD Conservationists Of The Year Award to recognize individuals, conservation organizations, and others for outstanding accomplishments with implementing conservation practices and improving Owen County’s natural resources. Each year Owen County Soil & Water Conservation District selects a Conservationist Of The Year.
ELIGIBILITY:
In order for an entry to be included in the recognition program, the recipient must be a landowner in Owen County or own property in Owen County, and the recipient must be
CRITERIA:
The following is the criteria that the Owen County SWCD Board of Supervisors will use in selecting the Owen County Conservationist Of The Year:
- Forestry Improvement and Establishment
- Wind & Water Erosion Practices
- Pasture Improvement and Management
- Cropland Management
- Integrated Pest Management
- Livestock & Manure Management Practices
- Buffer Practices
- Shoreline/Stream Stabilization
- Wetland Restoration/Management
- Wildlife Practices
- Other Soil & Water Conservation Practices
SWCD supervisors, SWCD employees, and employees of our state and federal agency partners are not eligible for recognition through this program.
The Deadline For Applications is October 31st, 2022.
Winners will be recognized at the 2023 Owen County SWCD Annual Meeting. The winner and their family will receive free tickets to the Annual Meeting and will also receive a plaque and a sign for their property.
